Yes, this tournament caters to players of various skill levels, from recreational to advanced. It follows a pyramid principle, where higher-level players are positioned at the top, and lower-level players are located towards the bottom. This ensures that you will be matched against opponents of a similar skill level.
Your initial position or ranking is determined through a combination of your self-assessed playing standard and the standards of other players participating in the same tournament.
The recommended playing frequency is once per week. You have the flexibility to play less frequently, but it's essential to engage in a match at least once every 3 weeks. If you receive a challenge, you should respond promptly and schedule the match at your earliest convenience. You also have the option to pause your participation in case of travel or injuries.
To arrange matches, initiate a challenge by clicking on another player's name and selecting 'Challenge.' Alternatively, respond to challenges you receive. You can then communicate with your opponent using our messaging system. The responsibility lies with you and your opponent to locate a suitable tennis court, as well as to decide on a mutually agreeable date and time.
The recommended match format consists of two sets with a 10-point tie-break for the third set. However, if both players agree, they have the flexibility to choose any other format. Please be aware that in such cases, you must report the results using one of the two supported scoring formats: (a) 2 sets + 10-point tie-break, or (b) 3 sets.
Positions and rankings are influenced by match results. If you defeat a higher-ranked player, you will assume their position. Conversely, if you lose to a lower-ranked player, you will drop one position.
At the conclusion of the season, the top 3 players with the highest point totals are declared as the season's winners. For more detailed information, please refer to the rules.
If you plan to relocate and participate in a different location for a new season, please get in touch with us. We will assist in linking your account to a tournament in your chosen location.
The season start and finish dates may vary depending on the tournament. Typically, there are two seasons per tournament, starting in late summer (corresponding to School Term 1 start day) and mid-spring (corresponding to School Term 4 start day). Each season spans 10 weeks. There is no competition during winter due to unfavorable weather conditions. If you missed the season's start, don't worry; you can join at any time.
If you experience a mid-season injury, simply log in and set your account to 'on hold' (inactive). This informs other tennis players that you cannot be challenged during this period. Once you've recovered, you can re-activate your account.
If you have plans to work away or go on holiday, log in and set your account to 'on hold' (inactive). This notifies other tennis players that you are temporarily unavailable for challenges. Upon your return, you can re-activate your account.
Currently, entering a tournament is free. In the future, there may be a nominal season entry fee.
The responsibility of booking the court lies with you and your opponent. You should also consider sharing the court hire fee unless you both agree on alternative arrangements.
The decision regarding who provides the tennis balls is made between you and your opponent. It's advisable to take turns providing the balls if you play multiple matches.
The responsibility for entering the match results lies with the winner. These results should be entered into the system immediately after the match.
Once the winner submits the match result, you will receive a confirmation email. If you disagree with the result, please contact support.
If your opponent fails to appear for a match without a valid reason, you are automatically declared the winner of the match. Please contact support.
If your opponent is unable to schedule the match within a reasonable timeframe, please focus on other players who are more proactive and contact support. Your challenge will automatically expire 3 weeks from the date it was issued.
In such a case, you are automatically declared the winner of the match. When you submit the result, choose the option 'my opponent retired.'
